Question: When my Lottery Number is activated, will my room be automatically assigned to me?
Answer: No, each student will need to choose their specific room bedspace.
Question: I'm a member of a Resident Group. When our Lottery Number is activated, will my room be automatically assigned to me? Or will a room be automatically assigned to each member of the Resident Group?
Answer: No, each student will need to choose their specific room bedspace. As a metaphor, ResLife Portal has taken the approach of each student "walking" up to a desk to select their room when the Lottery Number of their Resident Group is activated. Why did ResLife Portal take this approach? For several reasons: 1) if a Resident Group contains three students, but two students want to be in a double-room as roommates and one student wants to live across the hallway in a single-room. The system will not automatically assign rooms and bedspaces. 2) for the room rate cost, the system will not dictate the room assignment for students, each student has the opportunity to select a room based upon their individual financial situation.
Question: When I access the Room Assignments within the Resident Hub, I see a room assigned to me but I didn't choose a room. How did this occur?
Answer: Your residence life professional staff has the ability to assign room bedspaces, regardless of the Lottery Queue. For examples, this allows for the ability for residence life staff to assign an accessible room to a student needing an accessible-friendly room.
